The Lakers are a complete disaster. And even LeBron can’t handle it anymore
It’s becoming more and more painful to watch the super team that the Lakers used to be. It’s possible that the club is on a losing streak and that this is only a temporary phenomenon. Nevertheless, the crushing losses, the loss of points, the sliding down the rankings doesn’t look like the losing streak is going to last. Even the presence of LeBron James does nothing to save the situation.
Lakers’ main problems
The Lakers’ last game against New Orleans ended in a complete rout of the former. The fight was for a play-in spot. Despite the fact that there is still time and a few games left before the end of the regular season, the position of the super team is, to put it mildly, not good. Even from the mouths of professionals, you hear “total disaster” with increasing frequency. The remaining games are unlikely to save the situation, in any case, a real miracle must happen.
Ever since the game against the Pelicans, it was clear that the Lakers were in trouble. Already in the third quarter, there was an end to a struggle that couldn’t be called even. Brandon Ingram, Jonas Valanciunas and C.J. McCollum sealed the contest, smashing the Stars’ defense to smithereens.
The biggest pain for the fans was that they didn’t just mess up the defence. After an intense bombardment from their opponent, they simply gave up and didn’t even try to salvage the situation in any way. They had as many as 9 shots, but none were converted. In the end, the Lakes rivals took a 30-point lead, a truly total rout.
LeBron’s worthless contribution in recent games
LeBron James, 37, has not been able to save the day in any way. Some have even pointed out that he didn’t even try. In the last game, the entire team succumbed to the booing and the big-name player was booed individually. Despite scoring 32 points, the basketball player was ineffective most of the time. His shrug of the shoulders at the game’s most twisted moments was beginning to infuriate the fans.
The most frustrating thing is that LeBron still could have at least made the loss less embarrassing. Westruk didn’t make a single meaningful pass, and plus-minus “-26”. Davis seemed to be pitching reliably this season, but ended up dropping out altogether, and even before the All-Star Game. The cause is an ankle injury, as a result of which he won’t see the floor for another 4-5 weeks. As a result, the Lakers have no hope as there is no one to save the team.
LeBron did try to comment on the situation, but failed to reassure his fans. He has not given a single coherent answer to numerous questions. Moreover, the athlete avoided direct comments, saying that he does not know what will happen in the coming weeks. He praised his opponents, specifying for their decent play. Experts, however, note that the Lakers’ current state of affairs could cost their coach Vogel his job. This has never happened before with such a star-studded roster. There’s no question of firing him at this point, but it won’t go away either.
